COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES:

The Services use cookies, pixels, tags, trackers, and similar digital technologies to operate and to help collect data. Cookies are small text files placed on your device to store data that can be recalled by a web server in the same domain that placed the cookie. The text in a cookie often consists of a string of numbers and letters that uniquely identifies your device, but it can contain other information as well. Cookies on our websites are used to store your preferences and settings, provide interest-based advertising, combat fraud, analyse how the Services perform, personalize your experience and the content you see on our website (such as by displaying vehicles you have previously viewed or searched for or by conveniently auto-filling data fields in online forms), and fulfil other legitimate purposes.

Our websites may also contain electronic images known as web beacons (also called single-pixel gifs) that we use to help deliver cookies on our websites, count users who have visited those websites, and gather usage and performance data. We also include web beacons in our promotional email messages or newsletters to determine whether you open and act on them, and in our ads appearing on other sites to measure the performance of those ads. Our websites often include web beacons, cookies, pixels, tags, trackers, and similar digital technologies from third-party vendors. In some cases, that is because we have hired the third party to provide services on our behalf, such as site analytics or advertising. In other cases, it is because our web pages contain third-party content (such as embedded videos, maps, plug-ins, or ads) that contain digital technologies used to track operability and performance of the content, as well as your interaction with the content to determine its effectiveness. When your browser connects to a third party’s web server to retrieve content and/or web beacons, that third party is able to set or read its own cookies on your device and may collect information about your online activities over time and across different websites or online services that also contain that third party’s content or web beacons.

For example, the Services use third-party tools (such as Mouseflow, Dynatrace, Amplitude, Adobe, and Google Analytics and other Google services), to support the operation and performance of the Services and to analyse your interactions and experiences with the Services, including the features you engage with, how you navigate, and your click/touch, movement, scroll, and keystroke activity.

You can find out how Google Analytics uses data here and how to opt out of Google Analytics here. For more information on how Google uses data when you use our websites, click here.

You can also find more information on Mouseflow’s privacy practices here and how to opt out here.

For more information about the privacy practices of the other listed companies, please review their privacy policies.

INTEREST-BASED ADVERTISING:

As noted above, on some pages of our websites we allow third-party advertising partners to use cookies, web beacons, and other digital technologies to collect or receive information regarding your activities on those web pages (e.g., your IP address, page(s) visited, time of day, and other identifiers). We may also disclose such information we have collected to advertising and analytics companies. These companies may use this information (and combine it with information collected over time and across other websites, apps, or other digital services) for purposes of delivering targeted advertisements to you to provide measurement services when you use Ford Products, and when you interact with other (non-Ford) websites and online services. This practice is commonly referred to as "interest-based advertising" or “online behavioural advertising”.

  • Opt-Out. You can opt out of certain cookies and other technologies by clicking on the Cookie Settings link in the footer of our websites.
  • Browser controls. Web browsers vary on whether they are set to accept or allow various types of cookies and similar digital technologies by default. You can go to your browser settings to learn how to delete or reject cookies. If you choose to delete or reject cookies and similar digital technologies, this could affect certain features or services of our website. If you choose to delete digital technologies, settings and preferences controlled by those digital technologies, including advertising preferences, may be deleted and may need to be recreated.
  • Email web beacons. You can disable web beacons in email messages by changing the settings on your email client to prevent the automatic downloading of images.

Connected Vehicle Data Privacy & Protection

Welcome to the world of Lincoln connectivity.

Through devices like smartphones, tablets, and computers, we connect with the world around using wireless communication technology. Your Lincoln connected vehicle lets you do the same!
Having a connected vehicle means that, depending on how it is equipped, your Lincoln can communicate wirelessly with apps on your mobile device and with us, our partners, and our service providers.
On behalf of the Middle East division, headquartered in Dubai, of Ford Motor Company, we would like to explain how the technology works.
Your Lincoln vehicle contains an embedded Lincoln Connect modem. When you take delivery of the vehicle, the modem is connected to the cellular network and sending certain limited data to Ford Motor Company and cloud service providers (based in the USA). Examples of data sent includes basic vehicle information (e.g. VIN, model, year, serial numbers, time, etc.), diagnostics of vehicle systems (like oil life, fuel consumption, tire pressure, etc.), and information about the usage and performance of vehicles, features, and technology.
Your Lincoln vehicle may also be connected through Ford's SYNC, Wi-Fi, or AppLink technologies. Learn more on our website or in your owner’s manual.

About Ford

Ford Motor Company Limited is responsible for information received from your connected vehicle, and for the purposes of data protection law, is the controller.
Ford Motor Company Limited is part of the Ford Motor Company Group.
For some processing activities described here, our parent company, Ford Motor Company, takes primary responsibility and is also a controller. Where this is the case, Ford Motor Company will work with us to ensure that your personal information, and your rights in relation to it, are protected.
When we use the terms "we", "our" or "us", unless we make clear otherwise, we are referring to Ford Motor Company Limited and Ford Motor Company.

Keeping You in Control

Connected Vehicle Information is associated with your vehicle's unique identification number ('vehicle identification number' or 'VIN'), which can be linked to you as an owner or lessee, and with other vehicle component identifiers. You can find out more here, in-vehicle, in your owners' manual, or by contacting us using the details below.

You can set certain preferences for the collection of Connected Vehicle Information through the infotainment system’s settings in your vehicle. Further, you can also call the Ford Customer Relations Center to learn about other options available to you.

Lincoln Connect

Lincoln Connect is a cellular modem, which enables your Lincoln to connect to a network, much like a mobile device with a SIM card. Just like other parts of your vehicle, the cellular modem and its SIM are fitted at the factory.

Many different technologies work together to provide the convenience and latest-available content that comes with staying connected. Internet service providers or mobile network operators play a huge part in enabling much of the wireless communication we rely on.

Once connected to the network, your vehicle will send periodic alerts to us. These alerts contain a unique number, which identifies your vehicle's SIM, your vehicle's VIN, and the electronic serial number of its Lincoln Connect modem.

Lincoln Connect allows Connected Vehicle Information (described in more detail below) to be sent to us from your vehicle, and enables Ford Motor Company to conduct software updates to the vehicle's software and systems.

At the time of purchase of your new connected Lincoln, your dealer will explain to you how your vehicle operates and the available services. When you take delivery of your vehicle, you and your dealer can work together to ensure that your vehicle connectivity settings and data sharing settings are customized to your preferences.

However connected you want to be, your SYNC system keeps you in control. You can set your preferences in vehicle, including in relation to what Connected Vehicle Information is shared with us, under Connectivity settings at any time. You can find out more about in-vehicle controls in your owners' manual.

Please note that disconnecting the vehicle or making changes to data sharing settings may impact the quality or availability of certain services.

Because the vehicle will store your connectivity preferences and any data you import, like your address book, please do not forget to do a Master Reset if you ever sell your car or buy a used vehicle equipped with Lincoln Connect! Your owners' manual explains how to do this.

AppLink (if equipped)

You may be able to use AppLink to connect your mobile apps with SYNC 4 (SYNC). Your mobile device provides the data connection (so data charges may apply) and SYNC provide the infotainment integration, including voice controls (if capable).

To enable mobiles apps, SYNC requires user consent to send and receive app authorization information and updates, using the data plan associated with the connected device. The connected device sends encrypted data (such as the VIN, SYNC module serial number of other component identifier, odometer, enables app, usage statistics and debugging information) to us. When not driving, you may be able to use the settings menu to grant these group permissions individually, change a permission group status, and see the data included in each group, if equipped. When you launch an app using SYNC, the system may ask you to grant certain permissions, for example information about the vehicle, such as Vehicle Data, Driving Data, Vehicle Location, Convenience Controls, and/or Push Notifications. Please be aware that the permission selections available to you may vary based on which version of SYNC is equipped in your vehicle. You can enable all groups or none of them during the initial app permissions prompts. Please see the owner’s manual for more information. Please not that you are only prompted to grant permission the first time you use an app with SYNC. We recommend you review the terms and conditions and privacy policies for any third-party app or service to which you subscribe and/or use. We take no responsibility for apps or services provided by any third party, including their use of any data. If you choose to share information about your vehicle through your use of third-party apps or services, once you have shared the information, the third party’s terms and conditions and privacy policies (and not this Privacy Policy) apply to the shared information.

SYNC will remember your mobile device, so do not forget to do a Master Reset if you ever sell your car, or if you buy a used Ford vehicle.

If you change your mind about sharing vehicle information with a mobile app or want to stop using it with SYNC, you can always change your preferences in SYNC’s Mobile App settings in your vehicle.

How do you know if the vehicle is sharing connected vehicle information?

In vehicles fitted with a Lincoln Connect modem, you may see icons displayed on the in-vehicle SYNC screen, which indicate that connected vehicle information sharing is active.

You can check the status bar on the screen your in-vehicle infotainment system for alerts and notifications, including strength of nearby Wi-Fi networks or the strength of the connection coming from your mobile device.

For example, if your vehicle is fitted with Lincoln Connect and a SYNC system with in-vehicle SYNC screen:

- shows that the modem is activated and that Vehicle Data is being shared.

Not every situation is the same, so be sure to know how your vehicle is equipped. You can find out what connectivity equipment is installed in your vehicle, and how to tell what data is being transmitted from your vehicle, in your owners' manual or ask your dealer.

You can also find out how to disconnect your vehicle in your owners' manual. Please note that disconnecting the vehicle, or changing data sharing settings, may impact the quality or availability of certain services.

Sharing is caring! Sharing your vehicle, or driving a shared vehicle

If you share your vehicle with others, please tell them about the connectivity and privacy settings for your vehicle. For example, please inform passengers within the vehicle and other drivers of the vehicle that Connected Vehicle Information is being shared with us and our service providers. And, let them know they can turn off Vehicle Connectivity and the Privacy Settings in the Settings menu in the SYNC infotainment system. You are responsible for ensuring that anyone you share your vehicle with is aware of the Vehicle Connectivity and Privacy Settings and have read and understood the Ford Connected Vehicle Terms and Privacy Policy and provided their consent to our collection, use and/or disclosure of personal data when they are driving your vehicle.

Select model year vehicles include in-vehicle icons and data sharing pop-up notifications that indicate Connected Vehicle Information is being shared. Drivers and passengers with an unrecognized mobile device may see a pop-up displayed in-vehicle alerting them to the current data sharing settings. A mobile device is “recognized” if it has been paired with the SYNC infotainment system. This way if someone is new to your vehicle, or not driving it enough to pair their mobile device, the vehicle will notify them of its current data sharing settings. So don’t forget, when putting back your seat position or adjusting your mirrors, you might also need to reset your data settings. Please note that disconnecting the vehicle, or changing data sharing settings, may impact the quality or availability of certain services.

The importance of resetting your vehicle: Prior to selling or transferring ownership of the vehicle, complete a MASTER RESET (see below) to remove imported personal data like contact lists, names of paired devices and return the vehicle to the default factory settings. This is much like wiping your mobile phone memory when you upgrade to a new device. And, don’t forget to do a Master Reset when you buy a used vehicle equipped with a Lincoln Connect modem.

Master Reset Instructions

A Master Reset will reset the modem settings as described above and all SYNC settings. It will erase all SYNC stored data including paired devices, phone book, call histories, and stored addresses.

A Master Reset can only be performed in vehicle and should be performed prior to transferring ownership of your vehicle.

To perform:

1. Sitting in the car, turn the vehicle on and select Settings in the feature bar at the bottom of the SYNC home screen.

2. Select General. You may need to swipe to the next screen.

3. Scroll down and select Reset.

4. Select Master Reset.

5. A message confirming that all system settings will be reset to factory defaults will appear. Select Continue.

6. The Master Reset is now complete.

  • In certain circumstances, we may need to use your personal information where we believe it necessary to comply with a legal obligation, to protect someone's safety or vital interests, or for purposes, which are in the public interest.

Connected Vehicle Information

Connected Vehicle Information is information about the performance of your vehicle, its components and parts and their status, and how your vehicle is used, including how it is driven, its location and the environment it is driven in (for example, information about the temperature outside the vehicle). It is typically associated with your vehicle’s VIN, which can be linked to you as an owner or lessee. Here are types of Connected Vehicle Information we collect and the purposes for which, where we have a legal ground to do so, they will be used.

Based on the level of connectivity you choose for your vehicle and, in some cases, your choices in relation to your Connected Vehicle Information, not all categories of Connected Vehicle Information may be collected or used for the purposes described.
